It’s rare to find someone who likes cleaning and looks forward to it! It not only takes up a lot of time but it also can be very costly. To save you spending all day cleaning or leaving your house smelling like a hospital, our customer service extraordinaire Kate Weier has given us some cleaning hacks using basic household items vinegar and lemon!

There are so many ways to use vinegar as part of your cleaning routine! Just google ‘How to use Vinegar in your home’ and you will be exposed to what feels like an infinite number of ways to use it! To save you the trouble of rambling through them all here are some of the best:

Window Cleaner

Mix equal parts of water and vinegar into a spray bottle. Simply spray onto your window and wipe clean straight away with a paper towel or lint free cloth in a horizontal motion.

Oven Cleaner

For this one you will need to use baking soda as well. Firstly, make a paste with baking soda and water. Coat the inside of the oven evenly and leave overnight. The next morning, soak a cloth in vinegar and use it to scrape off the paste.

Remove Mould

Vinegar will cause mould to overheat and die. Therefore, dilute 4 parts vinegar with one part water and get scrubbing!

Use 50-50 vinegar-water mix to as a natural disinfectant to wipe down doorknobs, phones, benches etc.

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade use it to as a cleaner! You may not have thought about it but lemons are a great natural, mild disinfectant. Here are just some ways to use lemons in your home:

Pop a slice of lemon in a bowl of water and microwave on high for 2 minutes. You will easily be able to wipe away the crusted food and it’ll leave your microwave smelling fresh as a daisy!

Wooden Chopping Board

Cut a lemon in half and rub it over the chopping board. Let it sit for 10 minutes then wipe over with a cloth! For an extra clean, rub salt over the board first before going over with your lemon. Not only will it clean stains but will help kill germs as well!

Need to get your blender sparkling again? Fill the blender halfway with warm water, a drop of dishwashing liquid, a coarsely chopped lemon and run the blender for about a minute.
