With more people working from home, 2018 has become the year of the home office. More and more people are investing into amazing home office setups to increase workflow, spark creativity and promote productivity. iThink Marketing & Communciations Coordinator, Kristy Reynolds has put together a list of tips and tricks you can implement to style your space and ensure you are getting the most out of your home office.
LOCATION, LOCATION!
Gone are the days of allocating that crappy corner room to be your designated office space. Setting up camp in the smallest, darkest room of the house is just a recipe for disaster, it will only become unused and accumulate mess and clutter. Create a checklist of what you need in the space and what exactly you need the space to achieve. From this you will be able to create a rough layout, then when it comes to actually choosing the space, you should know exactly what you are looking for. Be sure to suss out which rooms in your house have the best natural lighting. Also, don’t forget to choose the room based on other essential features, such as, power points, room layout and whether it is in a high traffic area.
Incorporating as much natural lighting will create a light and airy feel. It will keep the room looking fresh and the natural airflow will work wonders for your productivity. Don’t forget window furnishings to block out that afternoon glare.

SMART STORAGE
It is extremely important to incorporate loads of storage into the space, not only to hold all those pesky files but to help eliminate mess and clutter. It’s time to ditch those ugly filing cabinets and think outside the box. Think streamline built-in cabinets, vertical shelving, peg boards, under desk drawers and chic desk organisers.

MAKE IT YOURS
Office décor doesn’t need to be boring, remember you are wanting to create a space you will want to go to, not one you HAVE to go to. Incorporate on-trend office décor, such as metallic hues, bold splashes of colour, large prints and amazing furnishings. Style the space up with smaller accents, stylish stationery and cool desk organization. Also, try to incorporate some form of greenery, it will inject a bit of life into the space and improve the air quality!
