If you are entertaining this Christmas you probably want to make sure your interiors are on point and will have all your guests complimenting you. However, as we are entering an extremely busy and expensive time of year, it is one of those things that gets pushed to the back of our minds. Here are some easy and inexpensive things you can implement to have your house looking fresh, updated, and stylish.
KEEP IT NEUTRAL
Keeping everything to a neutral colour scheme allows you to work with it all year round! Neutral colours also keep things light, bright and breezy, which is perfect for summer. To give things a summer touch swap out your heavier wools and woven textures for textured linens, light cotton, and washed-out silks. Pair these with natural fibres such as jute rugs, seagrass, etc.

IT’S ALL IN THE ACCESSORIES
Updated cushions, styling pieces, and new artwork are great ways to make a space feel new. They are low risk and cost-effective way to easily make your space look more expensive. If you do want to introduce colour, use these pieces to do so. Don’t skimp on the styling pieces, these can be pick up at your local Kmart, secondhand stores, trinket shops, or even outside! Think indoor plants, trays, woven placemats, wicker coasters, ceramic vases, stoneware plates, dried flowers and leaves, and even candles.

SWITCH UP THE LAYOUT
Another great way to freshen up a space and make it seem new is to shuffle it around. Also factor in the fact that you may be hosting more people than usual this festive season. Manoeuvre your furniture to cater for entertaining, maybe even bring the indoors outdoors. You want to optimise the room’s flow and feeling. Find a focal point (like a great, big, artwork or mirror) and arrange your seating around it. Consider views into rooms and place furniture in a way that complements or contrasts architecture.
DECLUTTER
Before you even think about your budget and what you can and can’t spend your money on, take a good look at what you can get rid of. Old, worn, or damaged items could be doing the look of your home a disservice, so if you don’t need them, ditch them! This way you can start with a clean slate, you might be surprised – you might not even need to do that much.

SHOP THE SALES
There are a number of sales floating about right now, so it is the perfect time to grab some interior pieces. Jump online and have a look, you might be surprised what you can pick up for a bargain.
KEEP IT SIMPLE
Style doesn’t mean to need all the stuff! If you are sticking to a budget, it is easy to get caught up in buying all the things just because they are cheap, however, this can just make the space look cluttered. Look for statement pieces and stick to your colour scheme.
GET INSPIRATION
